Decentralized DAO Governance Application with SBT

Abstract:

This proposal outlines the development of a decentralized DAO governance application. The application would provide a comprehensive platform for DAOs to manage their governance processes, including on-chain voting, on-chain proposals, and SBT (soulbound token) governance.

Motivation:

Currently, there is no dedicated tool available for DAOs to decentralize their governance. This is a significant challenge for DAOs, especially those that are hybrid DAOs, meaning they have a presence on both decentralized and centralized platforms.

The proposed application would address this challenge by providing a decentralized platform that DAOs could use to manage their governance processes. The application would be built on the Mint blockchain, which provides the scalability and security necessary for a robust governance platform.

Solution:

The proposed application would have the following features:

  • On-chain voting: DAO members would be able to vote on proposals and other governance decisions on-chain. This would ensure that voting is transparent, secure, and tamper-proof.
  • On-chain proposals: DAO members would be able to submit proposals on-chain. This would make it easier for DAOs to propose and discuss new ideas.
  • SBT governance: The application would support SBT governance, which is a type of governance that uses SBTs to represent voting power. SBTs are non-transferable tokens that are locked to the address of their owner. This makes them ideal for governance, as they prevent voting power from being concentrated in the hands of a few individuals.

Benefits:

The proposed application would provide a number of benefits for DAOs, including:

  • Increased decentralization: The application would help to decentralize DAO governance, making it more democratic and transparent.
  • Improved efficiency: The application would streamline the governance process, making it easier for DAOs to make decisions.
  • Increased security: The application would use blockchain technology to provide a secure and tamper-proof voting process.

Implementation:

The application would be developed by a team of experienced engineers and developers. The team would use the Mint blockchain to build the application.

Conclusion:

The proposed decentralized DAO governance application would provide a valuable tool for DAOs. The application would help to decentralize governance, improve efficiency, and increase security.

I commits to open-sourcing the NIP and grants permission for developers within the Mint blockchain ecosystem to build protocols and applications based on this NIP.
